How it works
How Tama reads your day.
No check-ins and no streaks. Tama reads what your phone and watch already know, weighs it against your own usual, and shows you the result as a face — with the reason written underneath.

What it reads
Eight readings, one picture.
Everything is read from Apple Health and Screen Time on your phone, re-read whenever you come back to the app. Anything that can't be measured is left out — never estimated.
Sleep
Last night's length, stages and how settled it was. It sets the Energy you start the day with — and a poor night still doesn't start you at nothing.
Heart
Today's average, your resting rate and HRV, each against your own last fortnight. A heart that won't settle shows up in Comfort on its own.
Movement
Rings, workouts and steps — measured against your own goals and your own fortnight of steps, so “a lot” means a lot for you.
Coming down with something
Overnight wrist temperature, breathing and resting heart rate read together. When all three sit above your usual, Tama treats it as your body fighting something.
Meals and water
Meals are measured against what the day should have delivered by now — so breakfast never reads as starving. Eating well past what your body asked for brings it back down.
Medication
Doses you've taken against doses due today. Medications from the Health app are shown read-only, because iOS gives no way to write them back.
Screen time
Counted from Apple's Screen Time against a budget you set. Past it, Comfort and Energy start to pay for it.
Cycle
Read from the period days you log in Health. It shifts Comfort and Health for the week you're in, and switches on by itself the first time it applies.
Moods
How a mood is chosen.
Moods are checked in order, and the first that's true wins. Strain is measured against your own fortnight, and Tama says so when it has too little to go on.
- 1
Your body fighting something
Temperature, breathing and resting heart rate all above your overnight usual come first. No step count argues with that.
- 2
Empty outranks busy
When Energy runs low late in a long day, Tama says you're exhausted — not stressed. A raised heart sixteen hours in is part of being tired.
- 3
Then strain, by its cause
The cause picks the face. A short night or a high resting rate reads as exhausted, a racing heart as stressed, a long day on your phone as stressed — or agitated when it's well past your budget.
- 4
Then food
If you just ate past what today asked for, Tama is full for an hour. If you're well behind for the time of day, it's hungry.
- 5
Otherwise, the vitals
With nothing pulling it down, the average of the three vitals decides between thriving and calm.
Settings
Yours to switch.
Tama is built around what you choose to share, and every choice syncs between your phone and the web.
Every tracker is optional
Water, meals, medication, movement, screen time and cycle can each be switched off. Their weight moves to what's left, so turning one off never reads as failing at it.
Let a conversation set the mood
Tama can let what you tell it set its mood — only from what you say about yourself, never from a reading. Off unless you turn it on.
Your own budget
Choose how much screen time counts as a normal day. Only time past it counts against you.
